Many countries around the world have already realized that the only way to combat the climate crisis and global warming is to shift polluting industries into sustainable ones. The construction industry is among the most polluting, responsible for no less than 40 percent of global energy consumption and 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. The construction industry is also responsible for large amounts of waste generation, natural resource use and water waste.
Israel is joining the fight: a national decree came into force requiring new buildings to comply with the Israeli Green Building Standard (T.I. 5281).
