This is a momentous achievement in Israel’s architectural landscape: Alfa led the sustainability effort for Amot Investment‘s project Amot Givatayim (previously Beit Havered) and secured Israel’s very first LEED V4 Platinum certification !
This remarkable feat marks a significant milestone in Israel’s journey towards greener, more environmentally responsible buildings.
Harnessing Solar Energy: A Facade of Innovation
The building’s facade was engineered and executed by Aluminum Construction, and is a marvel of innovation, seamlessly integrating BIPV solar panels which harnesses the power of the sun to fuel the building’s energy. The energy generated fully offsets the shared space energy use.
Structural Reuse: Reducing Carbon Footprint
One of the standout features of Beit Havered’s transformation to Amot Givatayim is the complete reuse of its structure, which reduces its embodied carbon compared to a newly built project by almost 90% (or over 7,000,000 kgCO2e)! This takes into account the material avoided being used newly or materials which might have otherwise been discarded throughout the renovation. Excluding the windows, the original facade is preserved under the new skin. By avoiding the need for extensive new construction, we have significantly lessened the environmental impact, preserving valuable resources and minimizing waste.
Optimizing Natural Light and Views: Enhancing Well-being
We understand the profound impact that natural light and quality views have on the well-being of building occupants. Through the well-balanced window to wall ratio, the design could include very clear glass while still meeting local thermal standards. This maximizes daylight penetration, creating a vibrant, well-lit while still energy efficient interior.
A Greener Future: Paving the Way Forward
Amot Givatayim’s LEED V4 Platinum certification is not just a recognition of our achievements but a call to action for the entire industry. It demonstrates that with dedication, innovation, and collaboration, we can transform existing structures into beacons of sustainability. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain steadfast in our commitment to creating a greener, more sustainable future for all.
Join us in celebrating this extraordinary accomplishment, and let us continue to work together to pave the way for a brighter, more environmentally conscious tomorrow. Together, we can build a world where sustainability is not just a goal but a reality.
